Mike Check is not just his stage name, it’s his real name. Mike Check was born with his head boppin. Picking up the drum sticks at the early age of 7 would help him learn of life with rhythm. Clangin on the drums as a youngin, Check was drawn to the hip-hop sound that his heart now beats to. Ignoring all the critics and plowing down the obstacles in front of him was a challenge that he took on without ever questioning.

After substituting the drumstick with a pen, Check crafted himself into a versatile lyricist. His style combines a dope rendition of story telling, with a new wave of lyrical freshness, which keeps him ahead of the curve. He’s able to distance himself even further from the rest with his uncanny wordplay and never heard before concepts.

Comin’ from a small town with not many opportunities, Check had to dream big and gravitate towards NYC’s bright lights. Even while struggling to pay rent in an unsympathetic city, Check never doubted his aspirations and instead used it to fuel the emotions that drive his music. His solo debut mixtape “Check Me Out,” dropped 4th quarter of 2009, and has continuously gained notoriety. Couple that with his powerful performances that have wowed crowds with explosive energy, and you have the story of a dreamer, doing everything they said he couldn’t.

In August of 2010, Mike Check’s buzz intensified after being crowned the season 2 champ of NYC’s most prominent showcase, ‘Hip Hop Unplugged’. A panel of esteemed judges, including Lenny S, Rockwilder, and DJ Scratch, all agreed that Check is on his way to the big stage. More show stopping performances were witnessed at the Sugar Bar, Don Hills, Times Square Arts Center, Velour Lounge, and other venues in Manhattan, Connecticut, and Long Island.

His live shows create an energy that you will absorb from the jump. His emotions become something that you can personally feel, whether it’s motivated, enraged, elated, distressed, or inspired. While taking you on this roller coaster ride of a show, he’ll fly you through peaks and valleys that he’s experienced, leaving you with a natural high that you’ve never felt before. His showmanship proves he is destined for stardom, and lyrically, he is in an elite class.

After weaving through a most complex industry and igniting his career independently, Check jump started The Kinetic Music Group (TKMG), a business aimed at helping other independent artists navigate today’s music industry.

Check is now climbing higher than ever, rocking shows and receiving airplay for his latest singles. Anticipation is growing over ‘Check Me Out’ vol. 2, slated for a 4th quarter release, and a debut album on the horizon of 2011.
